The Muskoka Builders’ Association has participated in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event for the past two years and it has been a true honor. This year was a bit different and the formal walk was cancelled, BUT – we decided that we still wanted to walk and create awareness to help end gender based violence.
Our amazing team wore high heeled shoes and walked from Wellington Street (starting at the Rotary Center for Youth) and ended at Gagnon’s Independent Grocer in Bracebridge on Sunday September 20th respecting social distancing.
By wearing women’s shoes, the participating gentlemen symbolically put themselves in the place of women for the purpose of raising awareness about the dire effects of sexual and domestic assault in our community.
They were also able to raise almost $6,000.00 for the cause.
