Topic:  LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) has become an established method for collecting very dense and accurate survey data for civil engineering applications. Similar to the introduction of GPS surveys in the 80’s, LiDAR surveys have had a dramatic impact on applications within the field of surveying, mapping, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  LiDAR
represents a new and independent technology for the highly automated generation of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), 3D profiles, and Building Information Modelling (BIM).

This presentation will provide an overview of Airborne, Static and Mobile LiDAR surveys, with their corresponding best practices for land development applications and a review of the potential products derived from LiDAR datasets.
