Speakers:   Building the workforce of tomorrow – a conversation with Georgian College Muskoka’s Mac Greaves and James Fielding about the future of skilled trades

Focus:   Mac Greaves has seen his fair share of changes in the skilled trades as Associate Dean of the Muskoka Campus and Chair of the Heads of Apprenticeship Training (HAT), and has helped Georgian tailor its pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship and certificate programs to the needs of employers. Mac will talk about how the college is responding to Ministry changes regarding the elimination of restricted status of entire trades and portable skill sets, what’s coming down the pipe through the campus’ Centre for Building Innovation (including a new construction techniques program!), and what’s next in skilled trades training. Operations Manager James Fielding will cover the 411 on the in-school portion of training for apprentices, the campus’ popular construction trades pre-apprenticeship program, and construction trades training and partnerships lined up into 2021.
